About the SSC CHSL Typing Test

As part of the selection process, candidates who qualify for the written examination must take a typing test or a skill test, depending on the position for which they are applying. The typewriter test applies to the Data Entry Operator (DEO) position, and the skill test applies to the Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant and Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretarial Assistant (JSA) positions.

The typing test for the DEO position requires applicants to type a given text in English or Hindi at a minimum speed of 8,000 strokes per hour. Applicants will have 15 minutes to type in English and 10 minutes to type in Hindi. The typing test is conducted on a computer, and the software used for typing is usually provided by the SSC.

The typing test is conducted in English or Hindi, and applicants must write at a rate of 35 words per minute (wpm) in English and 30 words per minute in Hindi. The test lasts 10 minutes, and applicants are given a text to type.

It is important that applicants practice typing regularly to improve their typing speed and accuracy. They can use online or offline software to practice. It is also important to make sure they are familiar with the keyboard layout and can type without looking at the keyboard
